De selectieklep wordt beschouwd als een essentieel onderdeel van zandfilters voor de zuivering van zwembaden. De hendel wordt gebruikt om te kiezen tussen de verschillende functies in een hydraulisch circuit: filteren, legen, sluiten, wassen, recirculatie en spoelen van de filter.
