Ultraviolette (UV) stralen van de zon zorgen ervoor dat chloor in een buitenzwembad snel verdwijnt.
Cyanuurzuur werkt als een stabilisator van het chloor tegen UV-stralen.
Het ideale niveau van cyanuurzuur is 30 tot 50 ppm (mg/l) om snel chloorverlies te voorkomen.
Als het cyanuurzuurgehalte te laag is, moet er meer aan het water worden toegevoegd en moet de pH indien nodig worden aangepast. Aan de andere kant zal te veel cyanuurzuur het heilzame effect van het chloor verminderen omdat het te gestabiliseerd zal zijn. Als het cyanuurzuurgehalte in uw zwembad of spa te hoog is, moet u het zwembad of de spa laten leeglopen en gedeeltelijk opnieuw vullen met vers water. Als u een zwembad of spa bijvult, controleer dan het cyanuurzuurniveau en herhaal deze test minstens één keer per maand.
