Questions and answers
which material is more suitable: AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel?
AISI 316 is more corrosion resistant and suitable for salt chlorinated pools, while AISI 304 is sufficient for standard pools. We recommend connecting all parts to the equipotential bonding network
what length of handrail do I need?
Check the socks on each handrail to verify that it is the right fit for your pool.
which handrail design is most appropriate for my pool?
There are several types, such as access handrails, curved handrails, swimming handrails or French style handrails. The choice depends on the type of pool and its specific needs
what type of installation is required: ?
Some models are bolt-on, allowing for easier installation, while others may require stone anchoring.
what is the diameter of the handrail tube?
A common diameter is 43 mm
is the handrail resistant to pool chemicals, what maintenance does the handrail require?
Although stainless steel is a very durable material, it is not indestructible. Even AISI 316 steel (the most resistant in saline environments) is not immune to corrosion if certain conditions of use and maintenance are not respected.
what does its resistance depend on?
Steel quality:
- AISI 304 (734): resistant, but more vulnerable to corrosion in aggressive environments.
- AISI 316 (716): more resistant to chlorides and saline environments.
- None of them is immune if the water is out of parameters.
Chemical balance of water:
- extreme pH (too high or too low) damages the passive layer of the steel.
- High concentrations of free chlorine or chloramines also deteriorate it.
- Steel is especially vulnerable when water is stagnant or has no recirculation in metallic areas.
Presence of stray electrical currents:
- Poorly connected or unbalanced electrical equipment can generate galvanic currents that accelerate the appearance of pitting.
- Recommended solution: connect all metallic elements (stairs, showers, handrails, etc.) to the pool's equipotential network, as required by the REBT (Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations) in its ITC-BT-31.
Recommended maintenance to prolong the useful life
- Avoid abrasive products or metallic scouring pads: they can damage the passivation layer.
- Visual inspection from time to time to detect possible signs of corrosion or pitting.
- In installations with salt, it is highly recommended to apply a specific stainless steel cleaner once a month
Swimming Pool Handrails: Safety and Comfort Guaranteed
Swimming pool handrails are accessories that increase the safety and comfort of users when entering and exiting the water. Thanks to their resistance and quick installation, they provide additional stability and protection, especially for children, elderly people or users with reduced mobility.
why choose swimming pool handrails?
Choosing these products provides essential benefits:
- Increased safety: they help prevent accidents by providing firm and safe support.
- Increased comfort: They facilitate access to the pool, reducing physical effort. - Exceptional durability: Made of stainless steel or other resistant materials.
- Minimal maintenance: Designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions without hassle.
how do pool handrails work?
These accessories are easily installed on the edge of the pool using secure anchors.
Their main function is to provide a stable and secure support that allows users to hold on firmly when entering or exiting the water, minimizing the risk of slipping and falling.
Main features of swimming pool handrails
- Straight handrails: Simple, efficient and suitable for small pools and narrow stairways.
- Curved or arched handrails: Offer superior ergonomics and greater comfort for all types of users.
- Specific handrails for accessibility: Specially designed for people with reduced mobility.
Swimming pool handrail buying guide: how to choose the right model
Pool handrails not only provide safety and accessibility, but also added comfort when entering or exiting the water. However, not all handrails are the same, and choosing the right model requires taking into account several factors such as the type of installation, length of the handrail, and type of stainless steel.
what type of handrail do you need?
Curved handrails with external anchoring.
- These are the simplest and most common models.
- Installation: they are anchored directly to the stone or coping of the pool.
- Advantages: easy installation, they do not require drilling inside the pool.
- Recommended for: stairs integrated in the edge or accesses without great depth.
Arch type handrails (inserted in the water)
- These models are installed partially inside the pool and advance towards the inside of the staircase.
- Installation: they require recessed or retractable anchors.
- Advantages: greater comfort and progressive support when entering or exiting.
- Recommended for: Roman stairs, access with several steps or users with reduced mobility.
Handrail length (advance)
In arched models, the length of the advancement is a key aspect. It determines how far the handrail extends into the cup and therefore the comfort of use.
Before you buy, check:
- How many rungs your ladder has.
- How deep you want to reach with the handrail.
- If there are obstacles (nozzles, spotlights, overflow, etc.).
On our website you can find handrails with different lengths of advance, measured from the anchor shaft to the far end.
what type of steel is the most suitable?
Not all stainless steels are the same, and this has a direct influence on the durability of the handrail, especially in salt-treated pools.
- AISI 304 (also known as 734) Basic stainless steel. Good resistance to oxidation in normal environments. Pools with traditional chemical treatment (liquid chlorine, trichlor, etc.).
- AISI 316 (also known as 716) Marine stainless steel. Greater resistance to corrosion, especially against sodium chloride (salt). Pools with salt electrolysis or located near the sea.
Important: if you have a salt chlorination system, always choose AISI 316 steel. Although it is somewhat more expensive, you will avoid premature oxidation problems and prolong the life of the handrail.
