Questions and answers
what is the difference between BSV BSsalt and Evo Basic?
They share the same electrode holder cup and the same cell, but the control unit is different:
- BSsalt: simpler version with basic manual adjustment. It does not support advanced optional kits.
- Evo Basic: incorporates fine tuning, integrated deck sensor, native compatibility with pH/ORP kits, Ey-pools connectivity, and allows future upgrade to Evo Touch
The price difference (about 150-200 €) will pay off if you want to add automatic pH control at some point.
can I change my BSV Evo Basic for an Evo Touch without touching the hydraulics?
Yes, the electrode-holder cup is the same reference in the whole range BSV domestic: BSsalt, Evo Basic, Evo Touch and Low Salt share this part.
The upgrade consists of:
- Replacing only the control unit
- Corresponding wiring
- Without touching the hydraulic installation of the machine room
This is one of the great differentials of BSV compared to its competitors: it facilitates the upgrade of the installed park without any works. For technical questions, please contact our technical service.
what is the Paddle Flow Switch and why does it matter?
It is a mechanical flow sensor that physically detects the movement of water in the pipe.
Its function:
- Stops chlorine production if there is no actual circulation
- Prevents the cell from dry electrolyzing and damage
Advantage over standard gas sensor:
- More reliable
- Gas sensor can give false positives on start-ups or after long stops
Recommended if:
- Your installation gives recurring "no flow" problems
- You want maximum safety in a pool with intensive use
do I need the equipotential bonding anode?
Highly recommended, almost essential. The equipotential anode neutralizes the eddy currents that appear in any pool with salt water and different metallic components:
- Ladders
- Floodlights
- Exchangers
- Level regulators
Without it, these microcurrents generate galvanic corrosion that eats away at the submerged components over the years.
The cost of the anode (between 100 and 200 € depending on the model) is ridiculous compared to the cost of changing a ladder or a corroded spotlight frame.
does the Low Salt range really work with low salt?
Yes, the Low Salt models are designed to operate at 1.5-2 g/l salt instead of the standard 4-6 g/l salt. Approximately one third of the usual salt.
Comparison of initial dosage for 50 m³ pool:
- BSV standard: 250 kg
- BSV Low Salt: 75 kg
Advantages:
- The bather hardly notices the salinity (similar to tap water in taste)
- Metal components suffer less corrosion
Trade-offs:
- The operating range is narrower
- If the salt falls below 1.5 g/l, the unit stops producing chlorine
- Conductivity should be measured more frequently than in a standard system (with digital meter)
can I connect a BSV to my cell phone?
Yes, with the optional Ey-pools Kit. It is a connectivity module that is added to any Evo Basic, Evo Touch or Pro range.
It allows the management of the chlorinator from the Ey-pools app:
- Production control
- Alarms
- Probe reading if installed
- Measurementhistory
Available versions:
- Standard: 459 € 459
- Specific for Evo Touch: 295 €
It is the native proposal of BSV for home automation, equivalent to the Loxone that offers Innowater. If you prefer standard connectivity without optional modules, see Idegis Tecno Connect.
doesBSV have a range for large community pools?
Yes, the range BSV Pro covers productions from 50 g/h up to 250 g/h, sufficient for:
- Large community pools
- Medium sized hotels
- Medium sized sports centers
For installations above 300 g/h:
- Aquatic parks
- Large multi-vessel hotels
- Larger public facilities
It is advisable to go outside the domestic range BSV and look at specific industrial options:
- Innowater SMC-H
- Professional equipment for Astralpool o Hayward
In public use, remember regulatory compliance (RD 742/2013 and regional regulations). For questions, please contact the technical service or from the contact form.
Salt Chlorinators BSV: The Best Technology for Your Swimming Pool Water Treatment
Keeping your pool water in perfect condition is essential to ensure a safe and pleasant swimming experience. The salt chlorinators BSV, developed by the Spanish company BSV Electronic, stand out for their advanced technology and automatic disinfection capacity, reducing the dependence on traditional chemical products. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, BSV Electronic has established itself as a benchmark in the design and manufacture of water treatment systems for swimming pools and other industrial applications.
These devices convert salt into chlorine through an electrolysis process, ensuring constant and efficient disinfection with minimum maintenance. In addition, the company is committed to innovation and sustainability, offering solutions tailored to the needs of each user.
why choose salt chlorinators BSV?
General benefits
- Total automation of the chlorination process, eliminating the need to handle chlorine manually.
- Less use of chemicals, which translates into safer and more sustainable maintenance.
- Softer water for skin and eyes, without the characteristic chlorine odor of traditional methods.
- Ecological system, reducing the environmental impact and the use of chemical products.
- Long-term economic savings, as only a low salt concentration is required to generate chlorine continuously
- Less corrosion of pool materials, prolonging the life of the liner and accessories.
- Wide variety of models available, from basic options to scalable equipment with advanced features for automated water control.
how do salt water chlorinators work BSV?
Salt chlorinators BSV transform the salt dissolved in the water into active chlorine through a salt electrolysis process. This chlorine eliminates bacteria, viruses and algae from the pool without adding additional chemicals.
Process steps:
- A controlled amount of special quality salt is added to the pool water (usually between 3 and 5 g/l). BSV has Low salinity models that can reduce the minimum salinity level in water.
- The saline water circulates through the electrolytic cell of the chlorinator.
- The cell, by means of an electric current, separates the sodium and chlorine ions, generating sodium hypochlorite, a powerful disinfectant agent.
- This chlorine eliminates microorganisms and keeps the water crystal clear and free of contaminants.
- Once the chlorine has done its job, it is converted back into salt and the cycle repeats automatically, reducing the need to add more salt frequently.
Main features of salt chlorinators BSV
- Wide range of models designed to suit different pool volumes, from small private pools to large community pools.
- Automatic regulation of chlorine production, adjusting the amount of disinfectant according to the pool demand, by means of ORP kit
- Models with integrated pH control, optimizing the water balance and avoiding fluctuations in acidity levels, by means of PH Kit.

Explanation of technical terms
- Electrolytic cell: Component where electrolysis occurs, transforming salt into active chlorine.
- Self-cleaning by polarity inversion: Technology that avoids the accumulation of lime scale in the cell, reducing maintenance.
- PH control: System that measures and adjusts the pH level to optimize the effectiveness of the chlorine. Adjustable chlorine production: Function that allows to modify the amount of chlorine generated according to the needs of the pool.
- Equipotential tapping anode: Stainless steel equipotential tapping anode, easy to install, to eliminate any roving currents that may exist in the salt water.
- Flow Switch: The Flow Switch is a safety component in salt chlorination systems and other water treatment devices. Its main function is to detect the flow of water in the piping and ensure that the chlorinator only operates when there is water circulation in the system.
- ORP-Redox: The term ORP-Redox refers to Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP), which measures the ability of water to disinfect and remove contaminants. It is expressed in millivolts (mV) and is a key indicator in water treatment systems such as salt chlorinator pools.
- Recommended values: For a well sanitized pool, ORP should be between 650 and 750 mV.
- Operation: An ORP sensor measures the balance between oxidizers (such as chlorine) and reducers (organic matter, contaminants), automatically adjusting chlorine production as needed.
- Advantages: Allows a more precise and automatic disinfection, avoiding excess or shortage of chlorine in the pool.
