Quick Diagnosis: From Symptom to Part
- Low chlorine production: low salt, scale buildup on plates, or cold water—check salt level, clean electrode
- 100% insufficient chlorine: electrode worn out (check model number DT and year before ordering)
- Intermittent production: corrosion on contacts — contact protector (€15.95)
- Leak in the housing: replace the EPDM gasket before replacing the entire housing
- The cell is broken: sold separately from the electrode; no need to buy both
Three habits that double the electrode’s lifespan
- pH between 7.2 and 7.4: Salt electrolysis raises it naturally; a high pH accelerates calcification
- Clean only when limescale is visible, using very dilute acid and only while it’s bubbling
- Winter hibernation: when the water temperature is below 15°C, reduce output or remove the electrode
