Skimmer Replacement Parts Astralpool: covers, baskets, gates, and gaskets, with their measurements
The skimmer is the intake that collects leaves, insects, and grease before they sink —and its parts take the most abuse in the entire pool: direct sunlight year-round, foot traffic, chemicals, and the impact of cleaning. The good news is that all its replacement parts are inexpensive and can be changed without tools: a new cover costs less than €20, a basket less than €8, and a flap €3.50.
On this page, you’ll find original Astralpool skimmer replacement parts with prices and, most importantly, their dimensions —because the most common mistake when ordering a cover is failing to check whether the opening is round or square. Below, we explain how to measure it in thirty seconds.
As an official E-Partner of Astralpool, all replacement parts are genuine manufacturer parts with a warranty. If your skimmer is from another brand or you can’t identify the part, the general catalog is available under “replacement parts for pool skimmers.”

Before ordering the cover: measure and check the shape
This is the most frequently ordered part and the one that causes the most returns. Two 30-second checks:
- Shape: Is the visible opening of the skimmer round or square? Check the outer rim, not the cover (a broken cover may have been replaced with one of a different shape)
- Size: With the cover removed, measure the diameter (for a circular skimmer) or the side length (for a square skimmer) of the opening. The standard sizes for this line are 21.2 cm for circular and 21.3 cm for square
And a third decision: just the cover, or the cover plus the ring? If the ring (the decorative frame surrounding the cover) is intact and securely fastened, the cover alone is sufficient. If it’s cracked, discolored, or loose, replacing the entire assembly will leave your skimmer looking brand new.
Astralpool skimmer breakdown by sections
Section 1 — Covers and rims (the visible parts)
| Replacement Part | Approximate price | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| 21.2 cm round lid | €9.22 | Lid only, circular opening. The economical option if the rim is in good condition. |
| 21.3 cm square lid | €13.29 | Lid only, square opening. |
| Lid and circular rim | €18.62 | The complete circular set: lid + decorative frame. For when the ring is also damaged. |
| Square lid and ring | €27.25 | The complete square set. |
Signs that it’s time to replace the lid: creaking when you step on it (the sun makes the plastic brittle), visible cracks, yellowing, or wobble in the seat. A cracked lid will eventually give way under a foot—and that’s the kind of breakdown that really hurts.
Zone 2 — Interior: bin and its lid
| Replacement | Estimated price | When to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Basket with handle, 19 x 10 cm | €7.49 | The small basket that catches leaves and insects. The most commonly replaced part, along with the lid: the handle breaks when emptying it in a hurry, or it cracks from sun exposure. |
| Basket lid with stopper | €8.91 | The inner lid with its plug, which allows you to close the skimmer for winterization or to attach the manual pool cleaner. |
A broken skimmer basket is more than just an eyesore: leaves that slip through go straight to the pump’s prefilter and, if that fails as well, to the impeller. Seven euros that protect the entire system.
Zone 3 — Gate, check valve, and float (the outlet)
| Replacement Part | Estimated price | What is it |
|---|---|---|
| Gate valve with float and hinge, 19.5 x 13 cm | €9.37 | The complete set: the swing valve with its float and the hinge that connects it. The solution when the valve is missing or the hinge is broken. |
| Flap | €3.50 | The replacement flap. The economical option if the hinge is still intact and only the flap is missing or broken. |
What the flap is really for: it keeps debris inside the skimmer when the pump stops, preventing leaves that have already been collected from falling back into the pool. It also speeds up surface suction while filtering. Without it, the skimmer continues to work—but less effectively—and debris escapes every night.
Zone 4 — Sealing and Fastening
| Replacement Part | Estimated Price | What it’s for |
|---|---|---|
| Skimmer gasket | €10.90 | The seal for the skimmer assembly. Essential if you suspect water leaks from the skimmer. |
| Small liner frame | €31.90 | The frame that secures the liner at the skimmer opening, ensuring a tight seal in liner pools. Replace if it is cracked or has lost its grip. |
Quick Diagnosis: From Symptom to Part
| Symptom | Most Likely Cause | Part to Check |
|---|---|---|
| The cover creaks or sags when stepped on | Plastic has become brittle from sun exposure | Lid (round or square, depending on your sink) |
| The rim is discolored, loose, or broken | Deteriorated frame | Lid and rim assembly |
| Leaves fall back into the pool at night | Missing or jammed gate | Flap or gate with float and hinge |
| The gate does not swing open; it remains lying flat | Broken hinge or submerged float | Complete gate (float + hinge) |
| Leaves reaching the pump’s prefilter | Broken or poorly seated basket | Basket with handle |
| Water leak in the skimmer area | Liner joint or seal | Seal; in liner pools, small frame |
| I can't close the skimmer for the winter | Basket lid with plug is missing | Basket lid with plug |
Skimmer maintenance: five minutes a week
- Empty the basket weekly during the swimming season, and daily during the fall leaf season. A full basket reduces water flow and causes the pump to work harder
- Remove it by gently pulling on the handle: most baskets break right there when pulled too quickly
- Water level should be halfway up the skimmer: if it’s too low, it sucks in air (and the pump loses its prime); if it’s too high, it won’t skim the surface
- Check that the flap swings freely at the start of the season: leaves stuck in the hinge will block it
- Winterization: Use the basket lid with a plug to close the skimmer and prevent ice from forming inside the housing
Can’t find the replacement part for your skimmer? Call us at 91 128 55 90 or send us a message via the contact form with a top-down photo of the skimmer (with and without the cover) and the opening dimensions: with that, we’ll confirm the shape, size, and part number right away. And remember to perform the pre-season check that prevents half of all breakdowns: make sure the basket has no cracks, the flap swings freely, and the lid doesn’t creak when stepped on.
