Questions and answers
how much does a pool cleaner BWT cost?
BWT has two very different ranges. The BC hydraulic vacuum cleaners (BC02, BC30, BC50) range from 84.99 € to 189 €: they are vacuum heads that connect to the skimmer and are operated with a handle. The range of automatic robots starts at 1,690 € with the Aquarius, rises to 2.550-3.290 € with the Magnum family (Junior and PVA) and reaches 5.890-6.990 € with the Ultramax family (Junior and PVA). The price jump with respect to Dolphin or Zodiac residential (700-1,500 €) is justified by the bag filtration, the trolley and control included, and the construction designed for semi-public use.
why are premium BWT s more expensive than an equivalent Dolphin?
Three factors justify the price premium. First, microfiber bag filtration retains finer particles than rigid baskets or pleated cartridges, which improves the final water quality and is especially valued in semi-public use. Second, transport trolley and remote control included: in residential brands these accessories are usually sold separately for 100-300 €. Third, construction sized for frequent or intensive use: motors and tracks with tolerance for large pools and sustained daily cycles, not for sporadic residential use. If your use is 1-2 cycles per week in a small pool, a mid-range Dolphin is the obvious choice. If your use is daily or the pool is large, BWT makes up for it.
what is bag filtration and why is it used by BWT?
In conventional pool robots (Dolphin, Zodiac, Wybot) the dirt accumulates in a rigid basket or in a pleated cartridge that is emptied or rinsed. In the premium range BWT (Aquarius, Magnum, Ultramax) the dirt accumulates in a microfiber filter bag that is removed and washed. Advantages: finer retention (microfiber vs. rigid mesh), larger filtering surface for the same volume, better adaptation to pools with pollen and sand. Disadvantage: bag washing is somewhat more laborious than emptying a basket, and the bag is a wearing part that must be replaced from time to time.
difference between Magnum Junior and Magnum PVA, Ultramax Junior and PVA?
Within the two premium families, the Junior version covers only the bottom of the pool and the PVA version adds wall coverage by means of a specific PVA foam brush. If your pool has walls that get dirty (dark tile, algae-prone ceramics, walls in areas with nearby trees), the PVA version is the right choice. If the pool has a smooth liner and the walls do not get dirty, the Junior version is sufficient and costs about 740 € less (Magnum) or 1,100 € less (Ultramax).
are BWT premium pools suitable for residential pools or are they professional only?
They serve both contexts, but the economic sense changes. In intensive residential use (large pool with daily use, demanding owner with water quality, intention to keep the robot 10+ years), the Aquarius or the Magnum make sense. In sporadic residential use (2-3 cycles per week, small-medium pool), investing 1.700-3.300 € in a BWT when an 800-1,200 € Dolphin does the job does not pay off. The Ultramax range (5.890-6.990 €) is clearly already sized for semi-public or premium residential use with large pools.
what is the warranty on BWT?
The standard warranty for residential use is 2 years from the date of invoice. Some models of the Ultramax range have specific extensions by registering the equipment on the manufacturer's website. The warranty covers manufacturing defects of the motor, electronics, power supply and housing. It does not cover consumable wear (filter bags, brushes, tracks, floating cable), damage due to misuse or heavy commercial use in residential models. Important: BWT is a European brand with a well-established service network, which facilitates effective warranty coverage.
where can I buy spare parts for my BWT?
In the spare parts section BWT of Quimipool are the original parts available: filter bags (it is the part with the highest rotation), standard and specific PVA brushes, caterpillars, propellers, power supplies, floating cables with and without swivel system, and consumables for BC vacuum cleaners. If you need a specific part and it is not listed (especially parts for older models such as BWT 500, B200 or P500), please contact the technical team indicating model and serial number.
does BWT work with salt chlorination?
Yes, the entire BWT range, both BC vacuums and Aquarius-Magnum-Ultramax robots, is compatible with salt chlorinated pools. The materials in contact with water (motor, shafts, impeller, brushes) are selected to withstand chlorine and salt in normal residential concentrations (3-6 g/l). As with any robot, rinsing with fresh water after each use prolongs the service life by preventing salt crystallization on rubbers and connectors.
where does the brand BWT come from and why is it Austrian?
BWT (Best Water Technology) is headquartered in Mondsee, Austria and is Europe's largest water treatment group. Its origins are in filtration for domestic and industrial use; the swimming pool division came later as a natural extension of the business. This explains some design decisions: the bag filtration that characterizes the premium range comes from the group's expertise in industrial filtration, where microfibers are standard. The brand has a consolidated presence in Central Europe (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) and has progressively expanded to Espaover the last two decades through its distribution network.
Cleaners BWTThe premium Austrian range for residential and semi-public pools
BWT is the Austrian water treatment brand present in private pools and wellness centers all over Europe. Its range of pool cleaners in Quimipool combines hydraulic vacuum cleaners (BC02, BC30 and BC50, 84,99-189 €) with a professional range of electric robots with trolley and bag filtration: Aquarius (1,690 €), Magnum Junior and PVA (1,690 €)2.550-3.290 ) and Ultramax Junior and PVA (5.890-6.990 €).
This category groups the eight models BWT available. If you are looking for a premium robot for intensive residential use or a semi-public pool, the Aquarius-Magnum-Ultramax range is the way to go. If you just need an inexpensive hydraulic vacuum to complement your scrubber, the BC02/BC30/BC50 cover that range.

BWTTechnical context of the brand
BWT (Best Water Technology) is Europe's largest water treatment group, headquartered in Mondsee (Austria) and present in more than 80 countries. The pool division covers everything from chemicals to advanced filtration, salt chlorination and robotic pool cleaners. In the professional sector, its range of robots is used in swimming pools of hotels, wellness centers, spas and communities of a certain size.
The technical hallmark of robots BWT in the face of Dolphin o Zodiac is the bag filtration (instead of rigid basket or cartridge): the entire Aquarius-Magnum-Ultramax range uses microfiber filter bags that retain finer particles and increase the filtration surface. The downside: the bags must be washed, it is not enough to empty a rigid basket under the tap.
Another feature common to the premium range: all incorporate transport trolley (adding to the price of the robot the accessory that in other brands is usually sold separately) and remote control for manual cycle control.
The two families of the range BWT
BC Hydraulic Vacuum Cleaners (inlet)
| Model | Price | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| BWT BC02 | 84,99 € | Basic vacuum cleaner, skimmer connection |
| BWT BC30 | 149 € | Improved vacuum cleaner with more power |
| BWT BC50 | 189 € | Professional vacuum cleaner, reinforced head |
This line is suction hydraulicsThe suction head: it depends on the power of your filtration pump and is connected to the skimmer or to the specific intake. They are not automatic in the modern sense (they do not patrol the pool on their own); they are vacuum heads that are operated with a telescopic handle and hose. They are designed to complement the purifier in small pools or as a punctual tool for intensive cleaning in pools where the automatic robot does not reach a certain area.
Automatic electric robots (premium)

How to choose a pool cleaner BWT
The first thing to define is the type of use:
For occasional vacuuming or to complement the purification system, models BC02/30/50 are the logical range. Do not expect automatic operation: they are handle operated.
For complete automation in intensive residential use, the range starts with the Aquarius (1,690 €). Although the investment is high compared to Dolphin mid-range (~700-900 €), what you are paying for is: bag filtration with retention of finer particles, trolley included, control included and construction sized for very frequent use.
For large pools (more than 15 m) or semi-public use (communities, small hotels, residential spas), the Magnum range and especially the Ultramax is appropriate. Here you enter directly into the professional range and the price reflects construction and durability.
Junior vs PVA: within Magnum and Ultramax, the "Junior" version covers bottom only and the "PVA" version adds wall coverage with a specific PVA foam brush (best for tile, ceramic and rough coatings). If your pool has walls that need active cleaning, the PVA version is the right choice.
Reference models by situation:
- Residential swimming pool 8-12 m with intensive use: Aquarius (1,690 €).
- Residential swimming pool 12-15 m with walls that get dirty: Magnum PVA (3,290 €).
- Semi-public or large residential pool up to 20 m: Ultramax Junior (5,890 €).
- Semi-public pool 20-25 m with full coverage: Ultramax PVA (6,990 €).
- Vacuum cleaner complementary to the sewage treatment plant: BC02 or BC30 according to budget.
Maintenance and spare parts BWT
Bag filtrationMicrofiber filter bags should be washed after each cycle (garden hose, no harsh chemicals). When they start to become permanently saturated or show tears, they must be replaced. This is the most frequent wear part in the Aquarius-Magnum-Ultramax range.
BrushesPVA models are equipped with a specific PVA foam brush, which also wears out and must be replaced when it loses firmness. Junior models are equipped with standard PVC brushes.
Tracks and propellerPeriodic inspection for wear or clogged debris (long hairs, fibers, plastics).
Floating cable with swivelThe swivel unit (which prevents the cable from winding up) is a maintenance point. If you notice resistance when turning or the cable starts to coil on each cycle, it is time to check it.
In the spare parts for pool cleaners BWT original parts are available: filter bags (Junior and PVA), brushes, caterpillars, impellers, power supplies, floating cables with and without swivel, and consumables of the BC range.
Basic diagnosis of common malfunctions
| Symptom | Probable cause | Initial check |
|---|---|---|
| BC: no aspiration | Insufficient filtration pump, clogged hose | Verify flow rate of the sewage treatment plant |
| Premium: does not move | Saturated bag, clogged caterpillars | Wash bag, check caterpillars |
| Does not climb walls (PVA) | Worn PVA brush | Check and replace brush if it is soft |
| Coiled cable | Rigid or broken swivel system | Inspect the swivel unit |
| Rare autonomy in control | Control battery, synchronization | Replace controller battery, re-synchronize |
| Loss of suction power | Broken or improperly fitted bag | Replace bag, check seal |
If the problem persists, please contact the official technical service. The range BWT premium has more sophisticated electronics than the basic models: do not open the engine on your own, it voids the warranty.
