Tips for use:The hardness of water intended for human consumption will depend on the area where it is located as it is related to the type of rocks found in the ground where the water flows. Knowing this hardness will influence the quality of the drinking water we consume.

how is the measurement carried out?

1. Wash the vial with the same water to be analysed and fill up to the mark -10 ml-.
2. Add 2 drops of reagent Nº1- Indicator solution-, close the vial and shake.
3. Add 5 drops of reagent Nº2- Buffer solution-, close the vial and shake.
4. If the water is blue in colour, the hardness is 0ºF
5. If the water takes on a red or pink colour, it is necessary to add drop by drop and shake at intervals the necessary quantities of reagent 3 - titrated solution - until the colour changes to blue.
6. Each drop of reagent 3 added until the colour changes to blue is equivalent to 1ºF
7. For water above 50ºF it is advisable to work with 5 ml of sample. To obtain the hardness value in ºF multiply the number of drops x 2.
