Ultraviolet AOP Compact Ozone - UV-C 75W
The combination of ozone and UV-C, integrated in this intelligently designed disinfection system, ensures fresh and healthy pool water, reducing the need for chlorine to a minimum.
This revolutionary combination of ozone and UV-C keeps the pool in perfect condition by minimising the need for chlorine. Through the supplied venturi tube, air is sucked from the outside into the space between the UV-C lamp and the quartz sleeve. The special UV-C lamp generates radiation of 254 nm and 185 nm. The 185 nm radiation converts the available oxygen into ozone. The produced ozone (max. 0.6 g/h) is mixed with water through the venturi tube to perform its disinfection and oxidation function. Inside the UV-C housing, the residual ozone will be converted by 254 nm UV-C radiation into OH radicals (so-called Advanced Oxidation Process) with an even stronger oxidising power than ozone.
The lamp has a double function, producing ozone and UV-C radiation at the same time. The UV-C radiation will completely decompose the ozone in the water. This produces so-called OH radicals, which have a high oxidation potential. This results in the oxidation of organic contamination in the water, and the UV-C radiation will also disinfect the water at the same time.
what is AOP?
The VGE Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) combines the benefits of ozone and UV-C radiation in one device. By using ozone in combination with UV-C radiation in water, hydroxyl radicals (--OH) are created. These radicals are very effective in oxidising micropollutants in the water and thus reducing organic and inorganic pollution in the water.
By-products of chlorine disinfection processes, such as THM and chloramines, are also reduced. The UV-C light not only disinfects the water very effectively (it also inactivates chlorine-resistant organisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia) but also directly reduces chloramines in the water.
The UV-C system is designed in such a way that all the ozone in the water is used for the AOP process, so that, with the right flow rates, a deoxygenation device is not needed. AOP is a very effective and efficient way to sanitise and disinfect swimming pools.
As a result, the amount of chlorine in a pool can be kept to a minimum.
