Technical characteristics

what is an anti-algae product for?

Chlorinated and brominated disinfectants, at the doses used in swimming pool water, have an unlimited destructive and/or inhibiting action on algae growth.
It is therefore advisable to enhance this algaecidal effect by introducing specific substances known as algaecides, which will prevent the appearance of greenish colourations and slippery deposits on walls, steps and pool bottoms.

But... which anti-algae product should I buy?

Quimipool offers 4 ranges of anti-algae products.

500 Series: Anti-algae prevents the formation of algae.

Series 500/S: Concentrated anti-algae prevents the formation and development of algae.

Series 530: Anti-algae extra. Liquid algaecide with microflocculant characteristics which gives it a greater capacity to eliminate algae that appear in suspension.

Series 570: Non-foaming continuous algaecide with clarifying effect suitable for diatomaceous earth filters and empty vessel treatments. Ideal for deep pools and counter-current swimming.

what is algae?

Algae are one of the most robust and widespread living micro-organisms on this planet. They are microscopic forms of plant life and can be introduced into the water by wind and rain that are already floating in the atmosphere.

how many types of algae are there?

Green algae are the most common. They are fast-growing and consume large amounts of chlorine.

Yellow mustard algae usually appear on the shady side of pools and can withstand 3 to 5 ppm of free chlorine.

Black algae form dark patches and have a layered structure where the first layer protects the layers below, making them very difficult to remove. They are extremely resistant to chlorine and proliferate in water with a high pH, so the first thing to do is to regulate the pH.

Dosage and method of use

Initial treatment: Add 1 litre of product per 100 m3 of water.

The initial treatment can be repeated whenever there is a lack of transparency in the water.

Maintenance Treatment: Add 0.25 lts. of product per 100 m3 of water once a week.

These doses are for guidance only, and can be modified depending on the characteristics of each pool, climate, etc...

Pour the required dose of product into a container with water and spread the solution evenly over the surface of the pool. The addition of the product should preferably be done at dusk and without the presence of bathers in the pool water.

- Periodic disinfection of the pool basin:

Before refilling the pool, it is recommended to impregnate the walls and bottom with a solution of the product (0.5 lt. of the product in 10 lts. of water), thus forming a protective film with disinfectant action.

- Disinfection of the pool environment:

The surfaces around the pool can become slippery and can be a vehicle for the transmission of diseases. To avoid these problems, we recommend applying a daily solution of the product (3 litres of the product in 10 litres of water) by means of a sprayer or watering can. After one hour, these surfaces should be rinsed with plenty of water.
